The Australian High Commission, Ghana, will host the second West Africa Mining Security (WAMS) Conference in Accra from 28-29 September 2022.
The event will provide mining and exploration managers and security professionals with current information on developments to inform security and investment decisions in West Africa. Speakers will include experienced political and security analysts and operators in the region.
DAY ONE: a full-day plenary conference and will focus on evolving threats in the regional security environment with a focus on the Sahel and implications and challenges for mining companies including in littoral states.
DAY TWO: a half-day plenary conference and will discuss the impacts of political instability; challenges of illegal and artisanal mining and the role of mining companies in contributing to community resilience.
Day two will also feature an OPTIONAL afternoon workshop on mitigating Kidnap for Ransom (KFR) risks, tailored for mine security professionals and managers responsible for managing KFR incidents.
